"We are seventeen and shattered and still dancing. We have messy, throbbing hearts, and we are stronger than anyone could ever know…
Jonah never thought a girl like Vivi would come along.
Vivi didn’t know Jonah would light up her world.
Neither of them expected a summer like this…a summer that would rewrite their futures.
In an unflinching story about new love, old wounds, and forces beyond our control, two teens find that when you collide with the right person at just the right time, it will change you forever."
Holy cow. This book was fantastic!!!
This book is about two teenagers - Vivi and Jonah - who are both broken in their own way. Vivi is an intense, colorful, and loud person who is go, go, go all the time. Jonah is a tree, constant, reliable, and there for his younger siblings after a tragic loss in his family.
We follow the story of Vivi and Jonah from each of their perspectives (something I LOVE), how they meet, how they fall in love, and how they both change each other's lives in ways they could have never dreamed of.
One thing I loved about this book is that neither character was perfect, they both had their flaws which made this book that much more interesting. Emery is able to touch on some pretty hefty subjects, death, depression, and bi-polar disorder, in ways that I don't think every author would be able to.
This was quite the whirl wind of a book, I felt myself slipping in to the emotional roller coasters with mainly Vivi, but also with Jonah. I think that is what makes this book fantastic is the fact that you really are taken in to this book and almost become an active participant with it.
Read this book please. It is a wonderful story. You will laugh, you will cry, you will want to give all of these characters a hug by the end of the book.

Everything, Everything
"My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla. But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster."
Once again, this is a book off of the Zoella book club (found here ), and once again, I am FREAKING IN LOVE with this book. The main character of this book is a girl name Madeline who has not left her house for the last 17 years because she has a very rare disease called SCID that basically means she's allergic to almost everything in the world. She lives in the bubble of her home with filtrated air and white everything. The only company she has is her mother, her nurse, and all of her books.
That is until, one day, new neighbors move in, and in enters Olly. This book takes you through Madeline and Olly's relationship, her sickness, and so much in between. Olly complicates things, to say the least. But, having Olly step in to her life leads her to learn what love truly means, and how much people are willing to go through and do in the name of love. One thing I adore about this book is throughout the book there are email chains, IM conversations, and pages from random homework.
I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved this book. I wanted to read the book in one sitting, and I almost did! Exhaustion got the best of me though and I had to finish it in the second sitting. I promise you though, you will NOT want to put this book down! My only complaint is the book was just not long enough! I wanted more!
Someone please read this book so I have someone to talk to about it! *insert heart eye emoji* you will not be disappointed!

The Sky is Everywhere

"Seventeen-year-old Lennie Walker, bookworm and band geek, plays second clarinet and spends her time tucked safely and happily in the shadow of her fiery older sister, Bailey. But when Bailey dies abruptly, Lennie is catapulted to center stage of her own life - and, despite her nonexistent history with boys, suddenly finds herself struggling to balance two. Toby was Bailey's boyfriend; his grief mirrors Lennie's own. Joe is the new boy in town, a transplant from Paris whose nearly magical grin is matched only by his musical talent. For Lennie, they're the sun and the moon; one boy takes her out of her sorrow, the other comforts her in it. But just like their celestial counterparts, they can't collide without the whole wide world exploding.
This remarkable debut is perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen, Deb Caletti, and Francesca Lia Block. Just as much a celebration of love as it is a portrait of loss, Lennie's struggle to sort her own melody out of the noise around her is always honest, often hilarious, and ultimately unforgettable."
This is another book that I am reading off of Zoella's book club list. (click here for the complete list). I just have to say, first Zoella has seriously amazing taste in books, and second why are there only 8 books?!
So basically, this book follows the character Lennie Walker after she tragically loses her older sister Bailey. She has always taken the back seat to her sister who was more vibrant, loud, and full of life. Losing her sister, she now has to deal with not having someone to follow.
In her grief, she finds comfort in her sister's boyfriend Toby, but then also meets a new guy Joe, who completely lights up her world. We follow Lennie through a few months of her life post Bailey. We live her grief with her, we live her joy with her, we live her confusion with her, and we live her love with her.
This book was amazingly written. The author Jandy Nelson has an amazing way with words. Throughout the book there are poems, letters, and random thoughts that Lennie writes on any surface she can find, each speak of her loss, love, and memories of her sister.
I highly recommend this book. You will not want to put it down. I wish I could have marathon read it and finished it in one sitting - it was that good.
Let me know if you read this book and what you thought of it!!!

Billy and Me

"In this utterly sweet and moving women's fiction novel, a celebrity comes to town and sweeps a young woman - who is used to being overlooked - off her feet.
Sophie May is content with her life in her small English village, working in the local coffee shop and living with her mom. But when famous actor Billy comes to town to play Mr. Darcy in a new film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, Sophie's quiet life is quickly turned on its head. Billy is adored by women around the world, but he only wants Sophie on his arm. But being with Billy comes at a price, and Sophie is thrown in the spotlight after years of shying away from attention. Can she handle the constant scrutiny that comes with being with Billy?
Brimming with humor, wit, and genuine warmth, Billy and Me is a book about taking a chance on life and on love."
Billy and Me was a book that a Youtuber that I follow - Zoella had in her 2016 book club, so of course I had to read it! If you are interested in seeing what other books she had in her book club click right here. She has AMAZING taste in books, I've read about half of the books that are on here and am planning on reading them all.
About the book though, I simply fell in love with Sophie and Billy. I adore both of their characters, and I adored this book. Not only is this book about love, but it is about friendship, loss, finding yourself, and keeping ahold of your dreams and not losing sight of what you want out of life. This story was so beautiful! It made me laugh, it made my cry, and there were a few cases where I wished I could punch a character or two in the face.
I love books that have a strong message behind them, and Billy and Me excels in that category. It really shows you that an ordinary girl can do some pretty extraordinary things. That loss happens, and it sucks, but it really makes you a stronger person. And finally, to it's core, it is a beautiful love story.
PLEASE go and read this book!!! Tell me how you like it! I promise, you will not be disappointed!

Where We Belong

"The author of five blockbuster novels, Emily Giffin, delivers an unforgettable story of two women, the families that make them who they are, and the longing, loyalty and love that binds them together
Marian Caldwell is a thirty-six year old television producer, living her dream in New York City. With a fulfilling career and satisfying relationship, she has convinced everyone, including herself, that her life is just as she wants it to be. But one night, Marian answers a knock on the door . . . only to find Kirby Rose, an eighteen-year-old girl with a key to a past that Marian thought she had sealed off forever. From the moment Kirby appears on her doorstep, Marian’s perfectly constructed world—and her very identity—will be shaken to its core, resurrecting ghosts and memories of a passionate young love affair that threaten everything that has come to define her.
For the precocious and determined Kirby, the encounter will spur a process of discovery that ushers her across the threshold of adulthood, forcing her to re-evaluate her family and future in a wise and bittersweet light. As the two women embark on a journey to find the one thing missing in their lives, each will come to recognize that where we belong is often where we least expect to find ourselves—a place that we may have willed ourselves to forget, but that the heart remembers forever."
I stumbled across this book when I was looking through my friend Jessica's Goodreads and though it looked interesting. Generally the book cover is what draws me to a book, and this cover intrigued me. Once I added it to my Goodreads 'to-read- list', she commented and said she loved the author. I immediately put it on hold at the library, even though I had quite a few other books ahead of it.
I have mixed feeling about this book, on the one hand I really liked the story. I love it when authors have their books from two narrators perspectives. I feel like this is a story that really grabbed you and pulled you in. I wanted to finish this book as quickly as I could just to see what would happen next. But, unfortunately the end wasn't really satisfying for me. I feel like this book needs a second, and quite possibly even a third in a series. It should not be a stand alone. Emily Giffin if you ever read this somehow, PLEASE WRITE ANOTHER BOOK. While most of the loose ends were tied up, I just feel like I was left hanging on a lot of things that I'm sure most other reads would be curious about as well.
Overall I recommend this book, it had a really good story and some great characters. The book tugs on your heart strings for sure. So read it! Let me know if you've read any books by Emily or if you've read this one let me know how you like it!

The Glittering Court

"Big and sweeping, spanning from the refined palaces of Osfrid to the gold dust and untamed forests of Adoria, The Glittering Court tells the story of Adelaide, an Osfridian countess who poses as her servant to escape an arranged marriage and start a new life in Adoria, the New World. But to do that, she must join the Glittering Court.
Both a school and a business venture, the Glittering Court is designed to transform impoverished girls into upper-class ladies who appear destined for powerful and wealthy marriages in the New World. Adelaide naturally excels in her training, and even makes a few friends: the fiery former laundress Tamsin and the beautiful Sirminican refugee Mira. She manages to keep her true identity hidden from all but one: the intriguing Cedric Thorn, son of the wealthy proprietor of the Glittering Court.
When Adelaide discovers that Cedric is hiding a dangerous secret of his own, together they hatch a scheme to make the best of Adelaide’s deception. Complications soon arise—first as they cross the treacherous seas from Osfrid to Adoria, and then when Adelaide catches the attention of a powerful governor.
But no complication will prove quite as daunting as the potent attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. An attraction that, if acted on, would scandalize the Glittering Court and make them both outcasts in wild, vastly uncharted lands…"
This book was UH-MAZ-ING!!! I cannot even begin to tell you how much I loved this book! Richelle Mead - you do not disappoint! I have been a fan of Richelle's books for about two years now, I first read her Vampire Academy series two years ago, and then shortly after that I read her Bloodlines series - both of which I highly recommend!
This book follow the journey of a countess who decides to take her life in to her own hands and runs away, impersonating one of her maids and taking on the name Adelaide. This book is about friendship, loyalty, love, betrayal and just about every other topic that makes for an amazing book. I DEVOURED this book, couldn't get enough! When I finished the book, I was actually really sad that I read it as fast as I did, but, thankfully, Richelle will be writing two more books to make this a trilogy (YES!).
Please go out and read this book. I promise you will not be disappointed. If you do read the book, leave a comment below and let me know how you enjoyed the book!

The Vegas Diaries
"The #1 New York Times bestselling author returns with this candid, humorous, and captivating memoir chronicling her journey toward reinvention and self-acceptance."When I first heard that Holly Madison released her memoir Down the Rabbit Hole last year, I immediate put it on hold at the library and patiently waited for my turn since I was number 50 in line. I could not wait to read it. I loved watching Girls Next Door and by far Holly was my favorite. The first book was rather shocking, to find out all of the crazy things that went on while she was at the Mansion, but it ended with her happy ending of finding her Prince Charming and starting a family with him.
Last month I was scrolling through my Goodreads for books that were set to come out from authors that I have marked books read by them. Holly Madison happened to be one that popped up. She had a second memoir coming out - The Vegas Diaries. I was a bit confused at first, quite honestly, because it seemed like Holly had covered most of the highlights of her life in her first memoir, but I figured I'd give this book a go since there wasn't a wait to get ahold of it at the library.
The Vegas Diaries covers a lot of things that Down the Rabbit Hole never touched on, so overall it was a decent read. She went more in to depth about her time spent in Vegas, failed relationships, and her time heading in the hit show Peepshow. I'll be honest though, it took me about 100 pages before I was able to really start getting in to the book, but after that I flew through the book.
The theme that really resonates with you in this book is overcoming not only barriers that have been put in place by others, but overcoming barriers that you have put in your own way. Holly left the Mansion with not a clue as to what she wanted to do, and felt that there was a huge stigma against her because of her lifestyle choices. She rose above all of this by becoming a successful headliner of a very popular Vegas show Peepshow plus starred in her own reality series Hollysworld.
There were a lot of ups and downs throughout this book, I think my most favorite parts to read were when she talked about her time at Peepshow and her relationship with a much younger guy who was really the most supportive partner she'd ever had.
Overall I'd recommend this book if you're a fan of Holly. If you're not, this book may not be for you. I've been a fan of Holly since first watching her back in I believe 2005 when I saw Girls Next Door for the very first time.
