"My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla. But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster."
Once again, this is a book off of the Zoella book club (found here ), and once again, I am FREAKING IN LOVE with this book. The main character of this book is a girl name Madeline who has not left her house for the last 17 years because she has a very rare disease called SCID that basically means she's allergic to almost everything in the world. She lives in the bubble of her home with filtrated air and white everything. The only company she has is her mother, her nurse, and all of her books.
That is until, one day, new neighbors move in, and in enters Olly. This book takes you through Madeline and Olly's relationship, her sickness, and so much in between. Olly complicates things, to say the least. But, having Olly step in to her life leads her to learn what love truly means, and how much people are willing to go through and do in the name of love. One thing I adore about this book is throughout the book there are email chains, IM conversations, and pages from random homework.
I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved this book. I wanted to read the book in one sitting, and I almost did! Exhaustion got the best of me though and I had to finish it in the second sitting. I promise you though, you will NOT want to put this book down! My only complaint is the book was just not long enough! I wanted more!
Someone please read this book so I have someone to talk to about it! *insert heart eye emoji* you will not be disappointed!
